As the climate changes and parts of the Earth get hotter, drier summers, while others flood, what really worries me is how this heat will affect my wireless internet connection. Death, destruction, crop failures, horrible diseases and sinking islands will not matter if I can’t get a good wi-fi signal. This is the spin given in a piece for the Telegraph regarding a recent speech by UK Environment Secretary Caroline Spelman: She warned of intense rainfall, droughts and heatwaves in the next 50 to 100 years because of man-made global warming. The signal from wi-fi cannot travel as far when…

The UK’s top business lobby group CBI released a major report on Monday regarding climate change. The report stressed that both the British government and climate scientists need to improve their communication skills if they want businesses to adapt to a changing climate and that businesses themselves should include ‘climate risks’ as part of their corporate reports. Politics, May 12th, 2010,
In an historical UK election that has left many frustrated and probably no one satisfied, there was a silver – or if you’ll forgive me – Green lining to the Conservative cloud that swept the nation. No, it wasn’t named Clegg either, though one can only help that the Liberal Democrat Deputy Prime Minister will have a positive influence on the Cameron-led Conservative government. Caroline Lucas, head of the UK Green Party, made history by being the Party’s first Member of Parliament. Lucas is now the MP for Brighton Pavilion, a seaside constituency on England’s south coast. Caroline Lucas describes…
