The advent of solar panels gave way to several innovative ideas on how to utilize solar energy for contemporary use. Chinese designers Cheng-Tsung Feng, Yao-Chieh Lin and Bo-Jin Wang have conceptualized a solar-powered traffic light. Instead of the usual three-tiered design, they proposed a single unit that will switch from red to amber then green with the use of light-emitting diodes or LED technology and its power source would be from solar panels attached to its hood. The idea seems quite practical considering that most traffic lights are already exposed to the heat of the sun during daytime. Read the full article here
