Floods are taking the world by storm lately–literally. We have them in the US, they’re happening over in Asia and Europe, and all of them are claiming lives. This latest report focuses on the area of West Papua, Indonesia, where at least 56 people were killed by flooding. Dozens of others are still missing and over 60 people were injured, many with broken bones and most needing to be life-flighted (transported via helicopter) to medical services. Earlier this month, floods swept through China and killed at least 53 people. Now, another series of massive floods have killed at least 132 people and forced the evacuation of 860,000 others. The Asian nation has been pounded by torrential rains since June 13th, causing major rivers to overflow and affecting over 10 million people. Many are injured, stranded, or have suffered property damages; plus an additional 86 people are missing, which means the death toll will most likely rise. Update: 17 Wounded from Sumatra Earthquake; No Deaths

We’ve seen quite a few earthquakes so far this year and so far, they’ve all resulted in at least a few deaths. However, it seems that fortune has smiled on the residents of Sumatra—there are no deaths to report from yesterday’s 7.7 quake and the tsunami warning has been cancelled. There are 17 wounded people on the island, though, which includes 4 who have serious injuries.
