Two tons of CO2, that’s what we emit every year just by eating, Spanish study finds
According to a recent article in Science Daily every living person emits about two tons of carbon dioxide a year just from eating. The study considers the eating process from the time food is produced to when the human body has fully processed it. Doing so, the CO2 emissions from human eating account for 20% of total yearly carbon emissions, at least in Spain. The study, by the Spanish Universidad de Ameria, also confirms for the first time that human waste contributes to water pollution, primarily with nitrogen and phosphorus.
