Since it’s Friday, I thought I’d post a few videos that are sure to shock, amuse and make you go hmmm… First, a tigon has been born at a zoo China. A tigon, or tiglon, is a hybrid big cat born of a lion mother and a tiger father. Generally smaller than ligers, the better-known lion-tiger hybrid – born of a lion father and tiger mother – tigons are not necessarily sterile and have been known to produce offspring of their own. Hawaii’s Kilauea, one of the world’s most famous and most active of volcanoes, is erupting again in impressive fashion, shooting lava 80 ft (25m) into the air after collapsing a large crater. No homes have been threatened but the area surrounding the volcanic eruption has been closed off to visitors. Officials in Hawaii warn that an even larger eruption may be in store. Furthermore, according a report by Reuters the US Geological Survey recorded 150 small earthquakes that occurred along with the eruption. Kilauea has been erupting since Jan. 3, 1983, making it the volcano with the longest consecutive eruption time in the world – 10,000 days. The volcano, located on the ‘Big Island’ of Hawaii, reached this milestone on Friday, May 21st, according to a report by AP. Kilauea is one of the few active volcanoes that can be studied up close, though parts of volcano, which were once accessible, are now off limits to the public due to safety.
