India: a country of nearly 1.2 billion people with over 28% living under the official poverty line, as defined by Indian government in 2004-2005. Some 400 million of these poor depend on government food handouts, which fall short of meeting demands. Yet experts say that there are over a billion tons of grain rotting away in government warehouses, an amount that could feed over 600,000 people for 10 years. Hunger has become more prevalent as more and more people get to have been laid off after the economy took a nosedive. More than 35 million people in America now receive food stamps while many others are making slightly higher salaries than the figure that would qualify them for food stamps. It is ironic how so many people could go hungry while every day edible food is wasted and thrown away in schools, restaurants, hospitals, cafeterias, sports stadium and supermarkets. There are several programs all over the country such as the Food Runners, Urban Gleaners, Rock and Wrap it up!…
