There are now 7 billion people on Earth. 7 billion mouths to feed, 7 billion consumers, polluters and greenhouse gas emitters. More or less. We know some consume, pollute and emit a lot more than others. They are usually from the same areas that produce more goods and services per capita, and generate more monetary wealth. One of the world’s richest men, multi-billionaire venture capitalist, philanthropist and activist George Soros has promised to invest a billion dollars (€675 million) in clean energy technology in order to help mitigate climate change. Soros announced this in Copenhagen on Saturday October 11th at the Project Syndicate Global Editors’ Forum, an international meeting focusing on climate change and energy security.
