Breaking News: Indonesia Hit by 2 Earthquakes; Some Dead, Many Wounded
At least 2 earthquakes hit Indonesia today, killing at least 3 people and damaging hundreds of homes. First, there was a 5.3 magnitude quake on Sulawesi island. Landslides nearly destroyed at least 50 buildings and killed at least one person at an elementary school. A second—7.0 magnitude—quake struck off the coast of Papua province—nearly 1,200 miles (2,000 km) from the first quake—and was followed by a series of aftershocks, the strongest being a 6.4.
