Europe’s tallest and most active volcano, Mount Etna, erupted on Saturday evening in spectacular form. Located on the eastern portion of the Italian island of Sicily, Etna has not experienced a major eruption since 1992 – though smaller volcanic activity is not uncommon.

So far there have been no evacuations, though local airspace was restricted and the closest airport temporarily closed.

Check out this short video report from ITN for HD footage of Etna erupting.
