Video: Rappin’ climate scientists dis skeptics

In the tradition of classic hip-hop feuds like Kool Moe Dee vs LL Cool J or Tupac vs. Biggie, a group of Australian climate scientists have made a full on dis track calling out climate skeptics, aka those why deny the scientific consensus that human activity causes global warming and climate change.
True to form, the skeptics are hittin’ back with some serious mackin’ in the comment section of the Guardian’s Environment Blog and of course on YouTube , but I guess anything is better than the usual degeneration into racist rants that website seems to constantly engender.
I’m waiting for an old school rap battle featuring some denialist O.G.s with skills that pay the bills (not that they’d need those) to step up and rock the mic.
They’re effin’ and jeffin’ a bit so if you want a clean version go here. But if you can handle the heat of some hardcore gangsta Aussie boffins, chiggity check yourself before you wreck yourself… or, uh, just check out the video below.
Keep in mind these are Australian climate scientists. Real rappers or fans of hip-hop needn’t judge too harshly. After all they’re the ones actually droppin’ some science. Schooled!

Cool video of deep-sea Vampire Squid
The Vampyroteuthis infernalis, literally the 'vampire squid from hell' is a deep-sea dwelling cephalopod similar to a squid or octopus. Commonly known as the 'Vampire Squid', it is the last surviving member of an otherwise extinct order of animals whose continued existence may be threatened by human activity. The Vampire Squid has glowing organs that resemble eyes and is able to 'shape change' or more accurately, appear to turn inside out – kind of like goth kids do when faced by...
Mexico Embraces the Challenges of 2010 Climate Change Summit
A shadow has recently covered the world as the disappointing failure of Copenhagen still looms overhead. Many will dwell on the results of the COP15 event for some time, but there are others already planning for the next step and for some, that next step lies in Mexico. Next year, Mexico will be hosting another Climate Change Summit and they intend to push for the binding international agreement to cut emissions, which should have happened in Denmark. Mexico’s main goal is...
Chinese Hakka Houses, a World Heritage site
The Tulou communities on the mountainous Fujian province of China are home to the formidable “Hakka” houses. These ingenious fortresses were built at the height of war and conflict during the 17th century in order to shelter its inhabitants and stave off intruders at the same time. These amazing brick structures built in either square or round shapes form self-sustaining micro-communities complete with food storage, space for livestock, living quarters, temples, armories and more. The UNESCO has cited the Tulou “apartments” as...
Brigitte Bardot appeals to Danish queen to stop Faroe Islands whale slaughter
After the mass stranding in New Zealand, which resulted in the deaths of nearly 60 whales on a beach on the country’s North Island, the annual mass slaughter of pilot whales is taking place in the autonomous province of the Faroe Islands, part of the Kingdom of Denmark. It seems that pilot whales – which like killer whales are actually part of the dolphin family, despite their closer resemblance to whales – just cannot get a break. Thankfully, they have the former...
Why commercial solar could save UK businesses
Solar power has been around for decades, but is still rarely seen in commercial settings in the UK. The tide may be about to turn as the economic climate continues to look challenging for most businesses, requiring considerable cost saving measures and alternative revenue streams to keep many companies viable. Commercial solar could be the answer for many small to large business owners to curtail expenditure and even turn additional profit from producing electricity. The Advantages of Commercial Solar For UK...
UK govt rejects calls for ban on deep sea drilling
Despite low public opinion on deep sea drilling and an overall global shift away from the practice, including the Obama administration’s moratorium in the US, the UK government – the ‘greenest government eva’ – has decided to go against the grain and allow exploratory drilling in the North Sea. A spokeswoman for the UK Department of Energy and Climate Change was quoted in an article in the Independent: We will not consent to the drilling of any well unless we are convinced...
A change in Brazil’s forestry laws could spell doom for Amazon rainforest
A proposed reevaluation of forestry codes in Brazilian law could have catastrophic consequences for the Amazon rainforest. The issue of keeping Brazil’s strict forestry laws intact or legally opening up more forest for economic development pits environmentalists against Ruralistas, who claim that current laws are stifling economic growth and keeping peasants in poverty. So why is this important? Brazil is a powerhouse for agricultural and commodity exports. However, it is also home to some of the world's richest areas of biodiversity. Brazil's...
Copenhagen Accord may Already be a Failure
Don’t expect any kind of global treaty from future climate summits. It most likely won’t happen, or at least not hold much importance to those involved. Only 2 months since the disappointing COP15 event and the so-called Copenhagen Accord is already being swept under the rug. Drafted amid chaos as a last ditch effort by a small group of countries, the Accord is currently facing its first political test—and not doing very well thus far. A number of veterans have already...
12,000 pounds of bushmeat smuggled into France every week
The meat of wild animals – many of them endangered – is routinely and illegally smuggled into Europe from Africa at an astounding rate, according to scientists. A new, never before attempted study on the smuggling of bushmeat suggest that 5 metric tons (11,550 lbs) are trafficked into Paris airport on flights originating mainly from Cameroon, the Republic of Congo and the Central African Republic. Though some bushmeat is brought back for personal consumption – a 'taste of home' – much...
SFO Launches Carbon Offset Kiosks Inside their Terminals
Eco-sinners have a new place to confess – the San Francisco International Airport. San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom announced that eco-conscious travelers can now purchase carbon offset credits right from the airport terminal. The Climate Passport kiosks are set-up right after security in 2 of SFO’s terminal and make it simple for passengers to minimize their impact on the environment. The money collected will benefit several local green initiatives, including the reforestation of the Garcia River Forest and the SF Carbon...
