Annual State of the Climate Report Says “Global Warming is Undeniable”
The report was written by more than 300 scientists from 48 countries and confirms what we’ve known all along: Global Warming is here and it’s not going anywhere, any time soon. Although the report (which is the 20th in a series) is mainly about Global Warming, it doesn’t cite any particular causes of it. However, it does make one thing perfectly clear:
“Global warming is undeniable.”
One thing that was pointed out in the report (and on the weather channel last night) is that each decade is getting consecutively warmer than the last. This decade is warmer than the 1990s. The 1990s were warmer than the 1980s, and so forth. Though, it’s really no secret by now that this decade is the hottest one on record.
The report, which was released by NOAA and published as a supplement to BAMS, specifically targeted 10 indicators of global warming. Seven of these indicators are on the rise and three of them are decreasing. The global warming indicators on the rise include: air temperature near surface (troposphere), air temperature over the ocean, air temperature over land, humidity, ocean heat content, sea level, and sea surface temperature. Glaciers, sea ice, and snow cover are all indicators on the decline
