PETA Updates: Court Cases and Anti-Fur Ads

It would seem that a couple of updates are in order for two previous articles I posted on PETA.
One of the articles mentioned yet another court case involving PETA. To make a long story short, an exotic animal company (US Global Exotics) was believed to be neglecting and mistreating the animals in their care. PETA sent in an undercover investigator to dig up any information they could on possible animal abuse. Proof was found and over 20,000 animals were taken from the exotic animal company. The company took PETA to court in an attempt to regain the animals, basically with the argument that they [US Global Exotics] were wrongfully accused.
Whether or not they were wrongfully accused, PETA won the case and the owners of US Global Exotics were stripped of all ownership of the animals.
Next on the list, we have the much talked about anti-fur campaign featuring Michelle Obama. She appears on the advertisement with 3 other women: Carrie Underwood, Oprah Winfrey, and Tyra Banks. The other 3 women have publicly and openly expressed their support and/or endorsement of PETA. Obama, however, has not; mainly because the first family is not allowed to partake in such endorsements. Needless to say, they used her image without her permission or consent.
Their reason for this was simply because she has publicly admitted to not wearing fur and they wanted to praise her for it. The end result of the campaign is that it’s being pulled. They may find a replacement person or image for Mrs. Obama, hopefully one that actually gives their permission this time.
That’s all for the PETA updates, but I’m sure they’ll be making headlines again soon, one way or another.
