Having a Christmas tree has become a tradition for most of us and it is one of the most valued symbols during Christmas season. The downside is the countless dead trees that line our streets after the holidays. Not only is it unsightly, it is also wasteful.

This year, San Francisco-based Friends of the Urban Forest and SF Environment have teamed up to offer live varieties of potted plants to be used as Christmas Trees. For just $95, you can have your pick of 6’ to 8’ tall trees.  These trees have been specifically selected to thrive in San Francisco’s climate to ensure that it will continue to live on after the Christmas season is over.

The trees will be available at the City Hall Plaza Green Christmas Tree lot on the 5th ad 6th of December from 10am until 2pm. All varieties will be available on a first come, first served basis. If you miss the tree lot, you can pick one up at Friends of the Urban Forest offices from the 7th through the 11th of December.

When you weight the benefits, having live Christmas trees is definitely better than throwaways. Read the full article here
