Eco-friendly bottles soon to hit shelves

Leading beverage manufacturer, Coca-Cola, has announced its plans to use a more eco-friendly bottle for its Dasani water product. This bottle is made from a mix of petroleum and plant-based materials and has 25% less carbon emissions than traditional PET bottles.

An estimated 1.6 billion servings of Coca-cola made products are consumed daily, these outstanding numbers alone should prompt the company to pursue and expand its use of recyclable, more sustainable and eco-friendly packaging. Read the full article here

    I have mixed feelings about this. I’m glad it causes less emissions and can still be recycled with normal plastic, (unlike some bioplastics) but it’s much better to get rid or drastically cut down on the whole bottled water craze and disposable bottles, especially in countries where the tap water is safe. If we don’t like the taste we can buy a filter or squirt some lemon juice in it.
