Carbon emissions are constantly being discussed in the news and everyday life these days. Most of the time, you can’t get through a single newspaper or television program with at least one mention of CO2 anymore. And if you know anything about the whole “carbon footprint” concept, you’ll know that it measures your CO2 output in tons; but do you have any idea what a ton of CO2 even looks like?

Millennium ART does. Millennium ART is a project management group that creates visual art experiences for UN events and their latest project is a big one—a 27 ft (8.2 m) giant cube, to be exact. The CO2 CUBES: Visualize a Tonne of Change exhibit allows people to see a physical display of one metric ton of CO2. It contains 36 channels of separate video mirror screens (all of which can be configured to different settings) which can display a number of feeds, including: video conferencing, real-time data, produced videos and more. Everything that will be shown on the cubes, however, will have something to do with CO2 and climate change.

The launch of the CO2 CUBES is set to take place simultaneously at the UN Headquarters in New York and at the COP15 event in Copenhagen on December 7th, 2009.
