Junk food just as bad as drugs
Food manufacturers create products to manipulate these contents to induce more consumption. Conditioned hyper-eating is likened to drug abuse and other addictions and has become a public health problem as more and more Americans are now fighting obesity.
Former FDA commissioner David Kessler has authored a book called “The End of Overeating.” It outlines the process of overeating by explaining how our minds and bodies react when we consume sugar, fat and salt saturated food.
Like any other addiction, it can be treated by clinical intervention, abstinence from processed foods, making use of comprehensive labeling to indicate food additives and responsible food marketing.
The government should strictly impose procedures to keep food manufacturers in line and help guide consumers on learning to eat the food they want in a planned and controlled way to keep overeating or food addiction under control. Read the full article here
