Soros pledges $1 billion for clean energy
One of the world’s richest men, multi-billionaire venture capitalist, philanthropist and activist George Soros has promised to invest a billion dollars (€675 million) in clean energy technology in order to help mitigate climate change. Soros announced this in Copenhagen on Saturday October 11th at the Project Syndicate Global Editors’ Forum, an international meeting focusing on climate change and energy security. The funds will be allocated at a rate of $10 million per year for the next ten years as part of what has been termed the Climate Policy Initiative, an organization with the purpose of advising policy makers about the environment set to officially begin in Berlin in November.
