PC Power Management Just Got Easier and Greener
Computers have long been known to be great consumers of energy. People leave them on while running errands, or even overnight, completely oblivious to the amount of energy that is wasted. In recent years, companies have been making strides in creating greener computers, including ones made from bamboo, but the matter of energy consumption still needs more attention.
And now, there is a new download that is designed to help with that exact problem.
SetPower is a free program that allows you to specify when your computer is awake or asleep. For example, if you have errands to run between 11 am and 2 pm, you can program your computer to fall asleep during those hours. If you use a laptop, you can use this program to trigger different sleep modes, depending on if the laptop is plugged in or running on a battery.
By using this program, the company claims you will save up to $10 per month, as opposed to if you let your computer run constantly. So, not only will you be saving energy and reducing your carbon footprint by making this green change, you’ll also be saving yourself money too; and all of that can really add up to some positive things in the long run.
