Northeast Passage now “cheap” route for ships – sad news!
Reuters reports that two German ships successfully faced the Arctic waters and were able to navigate their way through the Northeast Passage. This was the first – but certainly not the last – commercial journey by a western shipping company on this Northern Sea Route right next to Russia’s Arctic-facing northern shore. Made possible by climate change, the Northern Passage is now looked at as a new potential cost-cutting passageway from Asia to Europe. What a sad day! Read the full article here.
